Privacy policy

Homeprice is a browser extension that shows prices in your own currency and estimates tourist tax refunds. This policy describes exactly what it does with data. The short version is that it collects nothing.

What Homeprice collects

Nothing. There is no account, no sign-up, no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising identifier and no crash reporting. No profile of you is built anywhere.

What leaves your browser

One thing: a request for exchange rates.

Roughly every six hours, the extension asks one of three public endpoints for a table of currency rates:

• cdn.jsdelivr.net, the community Currency API
• latest.currency-api.pages.dev, its mirror
• api.frankfurter.app, European Central Bank rates

These requests contain no information about you, the page you are on, or what you are looking at. They ask for a list of exchange rates and nothing else. They carry no identifier, no cookie set by us, and no query parameters derived from your browsing.

Those services are operated by third parties and will see the network request itself, including your IP address, in the same way any website you visit does. Homeprice sends them nothing beyond the request for the rate table.

What never leaves your browser

• The pages you visit, their addresses and their titles.
• The prices found on those pages.
• Anything you type.
• Your currency, your home country, your per-site rules, and every other setting.

All price detection, currency conversion and tax refund estimation happen locally, inside your browser, using data bundled with the extension. Nothing about the pages you visit is transmitted anywhere.

What is stored, and where

Your settings, meaning your target currency, home country, display preferences and per-site rules, are saved using Chrome's own storage. If you are signed into Chrome with sync enabled, Chrome may sync these settings between your own devices, in the same way it syncs your bookmarks. That is handled entirely by Chrome. We never receive them.

The cached exchange rate table is stored locally on your device.

Why Homeprice needs access to the pages you visit

To show a price in your currency, the extension has to read the text of the page you are looking at. Prices appear on arbitrary websites, so that access cannot be limited to a fixed list of sites in advance.

That access is used solely to find price-shaped text and replace it. The page content is read in memory, converted, and discarded. It is never stored and never transmitted.

You can stop the extension running on any site from the Homeprice popup, using "Skip this site", or turn it off entirely with Alt+Shift+P.

Selling data

We do not sell your data, share it, or transfer it to anyone. We do not have it.

Limited Use

Our use of data received through this extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

In practice this commitment is easy for us to keep, because Homeprice receives no user data in the first place. It transfers nothing to us or to anyone else, it is never used for advertising, and no human ever reads it.

This website

This site carries no analytics, no cookies and no third party requests. It loads no external fonts or scripts. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, as every web host does.

Tax refund estimates

The refund figures shown are estimates calculated on your device from published scheme rules, checked in August 2026. They are a guide for deciding whether a purchase is worth making. They are not tax advice and they are not a quote from any refund operator. Rules, rates and thresholds change. Always confirm with the retailer and the refund operator.

Children

Homeprice is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes in a way that affects what data is handled, the change will be noted here with a new date and described in the extension's release notes.
